They copy sounds, reactions and attention. Visitors to a zoo treated the parrots as if they knew what they were saying.  This is a perfect analogy to LLMs: simple copying mistaken or agency and self-awareness.

Land of the Free, the California Court of Appeal, Second District, said attorneys who don’t check opposing counsel’s briefs for AI hallucination won’t be awarded attorneys’ fees.
