Putting LLM/notAI In Its Place

January 25, 2026

I have been reading about AI since 1973. The single most clear, concise and cogent essay I have read on the subject in this century was written by H. Claire Taylor, an under-rated author of comic fiction who turns out to be an exceptional essayist. She puts LLM/notAI in its place, and describes that place clearly, while only using the word slop five times. Because she accurately points out that AI is a market term for LLM, I will refer to it in the future (as often as I remember) as LLM/notAI.
