Those of you who have been paying attention will recall my self-imposed limitation of 750 words a week. This is difficult when you have been overwriting since age 12.

Teachers in grades K-12 seldom asked students to “please limit yourself to the assigned length.” Teachers assigned page lengths, so my mom got me an Elite typewriter, usually accepted for a month or two before being prohibited.

Plus, vey few K-12 students typed their assignments. As a college student, my mom had a typewriter. Helpful, since my handwriting was (and still is) almost illegible.
